9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Set In Manchester
Manchester Township will hold its ceremony honoring the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

MANCHESTER, NJ β Manchester Township officials will hold a remembrance ceremony on Monday to honor the victims and mark the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Monday at the back entrance of Manchester Town Hall on Colonial Drive in the courtyard near the 9/11 monument.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001 that were carried out by 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaida, who hijacked four planes that day.

Two planes were crashed into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. One hit the Pentagon. A fourth plane, which appeared to be headed to Washington, D.C., was brought down in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, by passengers who foiled its planned attack.
Nineteen people with ties to Ocean County were among those killed in the attacks.
