Active Shooter Drill Planned At Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst

There will be an extra first responder presence around the base, officials said.

JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — An active shooter exercise is scheduled to be held at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on Thursday, base officials announced.

The goal is "to test emergency response and preparedness in the event of a real-world incident," officials said.

"During the exercise, the base and local community can expect an increased presence of emergency responders, such as police, fire and medical services," base officials said.

"There will also be giant voice notifications, sirens, simulated gunfire and other loud noises heard across the installation," officials said.

Gate closures, delays and increased traffic on the base are expected throughout the exercise, officials said.
