He Robbed A Bank In Manchester; Do You Know This Man?

Police are asking residents in the area of the bank to check their home surveillance systems in case the man walked by their homes.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a bank in the Whiting section.

Manchester police received a hold-up alarm report at 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday from the Wells Fargo bank at 501 Route 530 in Manchester, Capt. Todd Malland said. A man had entered the bank, demanded money, and ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was displayed and the man did not use force during the robbery, he said.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, with an average build and wearing a black mask, black gloves, sunglasses, a black baseball cap and a dark-colored sweatshirt.

Anyone who lives in the area of the bank is asked to review their home surveillance systems between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to see if they may have captured the suspect passing by their property.

Numerous officers responded immediately and cordoned off the bank and ensured that everyone was safe inside, and police including K9 officers searched the area but could not find the man, Malland said.

Assisting at the scene were crime scene detectives and sheriff’s officers from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office as well as special agents from the FBI’s Red Bank office. The robbery is being investigated by Detective Richard Jupinka of the department’s Investigations Bureau with the assistance of the FBI.
