Blizzard Closes Manchester Schools For 2nd Day

More than 20 inches of snow has fallen in Manchester, according to the National Weather Service.

MANCHESTER, NJ — The Manchester Township Schools will be closed Tuesday for a second day due to the blizzard, the district announced Monday.

"Due to inclement weather conditions and to ensure the safety of our students and staff, all schools will be CLOSED on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026," the district said. "We look forward to welcoming students and staff back when schools reopen."

The closure comes as Manchester Township and Ocean County continue to deal with the blizzard that has dropped more than 20 inches of snow in the township as of 9:30 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Authorities have been urging people to stay off the roads while plowing and tree removal continue throughout the town, and driving conditions remain hazardous.

According to the school district's calendar, the district does not have emergency closure days built in. The Board of Education approved a revision to the calendar on Feb. 18 that had the last day of school set for June 19.

It includes a note that the calendar "is subject to emergency changes and other adjustments and is approved by the Board of Education and/or Superintendent."

"No plans should be made that cannot be changed," the calendar note says.
