Board of Education Honors Ridgeway School Teacher Of The Year

From the Manchester Township School District:

Ridgeway Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Virginia Schenck, a fifth grade teacher who has been teaching in Manchester since 2005.

“Mrs. Schenck fosters a truly caring and compassionate environment.  Every student is special to her, as she is to them,” said Principal Diane Pedroza.   “Her classroom is an inviting place to be, not only for children but for adults as well.  She has an appreciation of the value of technology and utilizes it to enhance instruction that takes place in her classroom.  She is a true teacher leader and has been instrumental with many initiatives...She has created an active learner classroom where students are becoming critical, independent thinkers in a peaceful environment...She is a true role model and a wonderful example of the finest in our profession.  She is excellence by example!”

“The teachers of today face challenges that they’ve never faced before,” Schenck said.  “Responsibilities have grown and requirements sometimes outnumber the hours in a day but, because we are who we are, we carry on with our heads held high and we do what we need to do to help mold the future of our nation. I am very fortunate to work with such an amazing staff at Ridgeway School. I am honored to come to work each day and call teaching my profession.”
