Brush Fire Along Route 70 In Manchester Quickly Contained: Police

A 7-acre fire early Tuesday did not cause extensive problems, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A brush fire on Route 70 near Route 530 early Tuesday morning was quickly contained, Manchester police said Tuesday afternoon.

The fire did not damage any structures and there were no injuries, Capt. Vincent Manco said.

The fire consumed 7 acres, said Caryn Shinske, spokesperson for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service deemed it under control by about 6 a.m. Tuesday, she said.

Manco said the fire was not related to a crash in nearby Pemberton Township that led to a closure of Route 70 and a detour that lasted well into the afternoon.
