Lakehurst Historical Society Schedules Antique Appraisal Fair
Have you ever wondered about the value of your great Aunt Ida’s ceramic figurine? Or perhaps your grandfather’s pocket watch? Well, these questions can be answered at an appraisal fair fund-raiser scheduled by the Lakehurst Historical Society.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Lakehurst Community Center, 207 Center Street in Lakehurst. Admission is $10, which includes the appraisal of one item. Additional appraisals will be conducted for an additional $10 for each item if time permits.

Come for the Appraisals, Stay for the Stories
Even if you don’t have an item to appraise, you’ll be entertained and enlightened. Watch as heirlooms are unveiled, histories are uncovered, and values are revealed—sometimes to gasps of surprise! It’s part Antiques Roadshow, part community celebration, and all for a great cause: supporting the local history preservation efforts of the Borough of Lakehurst Historical Society.
What’s It Worth? Depends Who’s Asking…
Antique values aren’t carved in stone—they’re shaped by context. Is it the auction value, where competitive bidding can drive prices sky-high? The retail value, what a dealer might sell it for? Or the insurance replacement value, which reflects what it would cost to replace the item today? At our fair, you’ll receive verbal approximations of value—insightful, informed estimates based on current market trends, historical significance, and condition.
So dust off your treasures—or just bring your curiosity—and join us for an afternoon of discovery, nostalgia, and fun. For additional information please contact our President, Bernadette Dugan, at (732) 232-9710.
