The Cancer Support Community at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus Presents Cancer: Thriving and Surviving

Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus is hosting Cancer: Thriving and Surviving, a six-week free workshop, beginning Tuesday, May 23.

The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2017 more than 1.6 million people will receive a cancer diagnosis. The Cancer Support Community at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, is hosting Cancer: Thriving and Surviving, a six-week free workshop, beginning Tuesday, May 23. The class runs on Tuesdays through June 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and takes place at 199 Prospect Street in Lakewood.

Cancer: Thriving and Surviving utilizes the Chronic Disease Self-Management Program of Stanford University to help patients deal with cancer. Over the six-week program, sessions discuss: techniques for dealing with frustration, exercise and nutrition, treatment decisions, relationships, setting priorities and more.

Registration is required for Cancer: Thriving and Surviving; to register please call (732)923-6090. Participants who register must be able to attend all the sessions. Upon registering, participants will receive a copy of the companion book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, 4th Edition, and a CD, Mind and Body.
