Crestwood Village II Goes To The Dogs — The Manchester K-9s, That Is
The K-9s and their handlers put on a demonstration for the residents and accepted a donation for the unit.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester K-9s Storm and Lynk showed off their skills Wednesday to the residents of Crestwood Village II. But the K-9s and their handlers, Patrolmen Marc Micciula and Steven Wendruff, got a nice surprise in the process.
Micciulla and Wendruff, along Patrol Sgt. Robert Sharry, conducted a K-9 demonstration for the Crestwood Village II Residents Club, demonstrating how well Storm and Lynk listened to their handlers, how they were able to detect drugs, and how they apprehend criminals, according to a news release from Capt. Todd Malland.
The officers answered many questions about the dogs and the K-9 unit in general, Malland said. During the demonstration, the officers were presented with a generous $200 donation from the Residents Club to the Manchester Township Police Foundation for the K-9 Unit.

This generous donation from the Residents Club will be put to good use to help ensure the continued success of the Manchester Township Police K-9 Unit. The funds will be used to purchase K-9 unit-related equipment as well as to pay for training for both the dogs and their handlers, Malland said.

“We’re grateful to Linda Hill and the members of the Residents Club for their support of the Manchester Police K-9 Unit which was established in 2014,” Lt. Vincent Manco said. “The generous donation will be used to offset the costs associated with running the unit."

Donations like these help to offset the cost for care, maintenance, and training for the K-9 Unit and reduce the usage of township funds. The Manchester Township Police K-9 Unit greatly appreciates the community’s continued support of the re-established Police K-9 program.
Donations are handled through the Manchester Township Police Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides funding for youth and community outreach programs, police charities, investment in advanced education and training, and funding for specialized equipment and technology in order to help our police officers better perform their duties.
Those who wish to donate, can visit the Manchester Township Police Website at: www.manchesterpolicenj.com and click on the “POLICE FOUNDATION” tab. If you are donating for the K-9 Unit, please indicate so on your check or donation.
