Duo Charged After Heroin, Crack Cocaine Found During Manchester Stop: Police

Breaking: The pair — a Manchester man and Lacey woman — were arrested as a result of police witnessing suspicious activity, officials said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man and a Lacey Township woman are facing multiple drug charges after heroin, cocaine, hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia were found during a motor vehicle stop Tuesday, police said.

Dandre Tubbs, 29, of Birmingham Avenue, Manchester, and Sara McCanna, 23, of Beverly Road, Forked River, were arrested after being stopped on Route 530 by members of the Narcotics Enforcement Team, Capt. Todd Malland said.

While conducting surveillance in the area, members of the NET observed suspicious activity in the Crestwood Village section and about 2 p.m. pulled over a vehicle that was involved in the drug investigation, Malland said. During the motor vehicle stop, police saw drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, he said. Further investigation revealed that Tubbs was in possession of a small baseball bat, 46 bags of heroin, over 2 grams of crack cocaine, hypodermic syringes, and drug paraphernalia, he said.

McCanna, the passenger, was found to be in possession of hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia, he said.

Tubbs was charged with possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, hindering apprehension by concealment of evidence, possession of hypodermic syringes, and possession of drug paraphernalia, Malland said.

McCanna was charged with possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia, he said.

Both were released on summonses pending court appearances, and Tubbs’ vehicle was seized pending forfeiture, Malland said. Also assisting in the investigation were members of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Patrol Bureau.
