Moscow Memories, A Russian Musical Journey at Strand Theatre

The historic Strand Center for the Arts presents the Moscow Memories, A Russian Musical Journey – Backstage Pass. You can get a "Backstage Pass" experience featuring Alex and Elya Vasiliev in their 1st US performance since their Russian tour with the legendary Oleg Sundstrem Jazz Band. The performance is on Friday, February 3 at 8p.m. Tickets are $21. 

Ever wanted to watch a concert while sitting onstage with the artist? You’ll get that chance at Lakewood’s historic Strand Theater with the “BackstagePass” series of shows, where the audience will be seated on the stage, looking at the performers and out at the 1922 theater’s beautifully renovated interior.

Elya Vasiliev is a 17 year old songwriter and musician. He has performed in multiple venues, including but not limited to Colts Neck High School, Music and Art Academy, Atlantic Highlands, The Stone Pony, Montclair University and Carnegie Hall. At Carnegie Hall, Elya won third place for his performance of "Swanee River" in the Olympic Challenge. Elya has also performed in a JC Penney back-to-school commercial and in an NYU independent film entitled "The DonutHole." He has gained experience from Freddie Walker Browne of RENT and The Lion King, Kerrianne Spellman of Les Miserables and the Music and Art Academy, Greg Mazurek of Argento Records at the Music and Art Academy, and many more.

Elya spent much of his time recording in the studio for his new album "Take Two." His former voice coach is Vitaly Chayka. A prized vocalist in Europe and America. Recently Elya won a talent show on iO channel 14 called MSG Varsity Talent Show and was prized with working on a record with Award Winning Producer Michael Angelo. Michael Angelo is well known for producing albums for Mariah Carey, Seal, Peter Gabriel and more.
