Fire Destroys Under-Construction Condominium In Ocean County

There were no injuries as a result of the fire, officials said.

JACKSON, NJ — A fire that destroyed part of an under-construction condominium complex in Jackson has been ruled accidental, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

There were no injuries reported in the fire at the Club at Jackson 21 on Mantoloking Drive, which was reported shortly after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities said.

An end unit, which did not have utilities connected, was fully engulfed when police and firefighters arrived, but was quickly extinguished, authorities said, preventing damage to other buildings.

Investigators determined the fire had started in the center hallway of the first floor, and started from a propane heater being placed too close to "available combustible materials," the prosecutor's office said.
