Fire Hydrant Flushing Coming Up In Manchester

The Manchester Department of Utilities has announced fire hydrant flushing is coming up in the township.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township will be flushing fire hydrants in October and November, the township has announced.

The flushing is done twice a year to remove sediment from the lines.

Utilities department officials said each community will be notified when flushing is set to begin in their area. Hours will vary and flushing will be done during the day and during the night, officials said.

Flushing will cause a decrease in water pressure and it will cause some discoloration of the water. Run your cold water tap until the water runs clear to get rid of the discoloration.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the utilities department said.
