Frigid Temperatures, Icy Roads: Manchester Schools Close Again

The area is under a cold weather advisory until Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Students and staff members in the Manchester Township Schools and Lakehurst Elementary School are getting another snow day on Tuesday as Ocean County continues to dig out after Sunday's storm.

"Due to the weekend's winter storm and ongoing icy conditions, all MTSD schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, for the safety of students and staff," the district said. "We look forward to welcoming everyone back when schools reopen."

The Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools also are closed Tuesday and adult evening education classes are canceled, that district said.

Bitterly cold temperatures in the morning and icy roads will make for hazardous conditions.

The area is under a cold weather advisory until 10 a.m. Wednesday, with wind chills as low as 7 degrees below zero expected, the National Weather Service said. Wind chills that low can cause hypothermia if precautions are not taken, officials said.

Daytime temperatures are not expected to get above freezing all week, according to the forecast.
