Hearing Booms? Joint Base Is Conducting Training

Breaking: Those booms and rumbles are just training at the ranges, officials said.

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — If you're hearing booms this afternoon, it's nothing to fear: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is conducting training at the range.

The base posted on Thursday that it would be holding training on Friday, but that training is continuing Saturday as well, authorities confirmed.

The cloud cover on Saturday is causing the noise to travel farther, which frequently happens, information officers for the base have said.

It was not clear how late the training will continue.

"As always, we strive to be good neighbors. We thank you for your understanding and would like to remind you that cloud cover can make the noise seem closer than it actually is. Rest assured we are taking every safety precaution as we train America's best war fighters!" the announcement said.
