If You Hear Rumbles ... This Time, It's The Joint Base
Marines will be firing live artillery and doing controlled demolitions, the base said.

LAKEHURST, NJ -- If you hear rumbles or feel the ground shake now through Sunday, it’s a good possibility they will be coming from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
The base announced that Marines from the 3rd Battalion and 6th Engineer Support Battalion are scheduled to conduct live artillery and controlled demolitions at the base both during daylight and evening hours from Thursday, Feb. 18 through Sunday, Feb. 21.
The artillery training and demolitions may cause ground shaking and “considerable noise coming from the ranges,” the announcement said. ”This noise may be louder and travel farther during overcast weather.”

The base typically gives residents a heads up when training is to be conducted -- unlike in late January, when sonic booms caused by Navy pilots rattled residents up and down New Jersey and sparked hundreds of 9-1-1 calls and rumors of an earthquake.
Noise from the base has been known to travel as far as southern Monmouth County to the north and Eagleswood Township in southern Ocean County.

“We’re ready to ROCK if you’re ready to ROLL!” the base said on its Facebook page. ”As always, JB MDL appreciates your patience and support as we continue to ensure the readiness of America’s fighting force! #Hoorah”
