John Hogan 5K in Manchester Honors Whiting Man
Race, set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 20, will raise funds for Boy Scout Troop 350 and a scholarship at Manchester High School

John Hogan was a proud father. A caring coach and Boy Scout leader. And he loved being in law enforcement. His family and friends seek to celebrate those elements of his life with a 5K race in Whiting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, as they honor Hogan, who died in a motorcycle accident in October 2012.
The John Hogan 5K will begin and end at Harry Wright Lake in Whiting, traveling through the Roosevelt City section of the township in the process. The race proceeds will benefit Boy Scout Troop 350, where he was the assistant Scout Master, and raise money for a scholarship at Manchester High School for a student who expresses an interest in going into law enforcement.
The race will have the traditional medals to top finishers, age group top finishers, and also award top scout and top law enforcement finishers.
