Lakehurst Man Gets 10-Year Jail Sentence In Robberies

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Lakehurst man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his part in the robbery and assault of a woman on Halloween in 2014, the Ocean County prosecutor's office announced.

Christopher Dupont, 24, of Lakehurst, was sentenced Friday by Superior Court Judge Michael T. Collins for his conviction on first-degree armed robbery. He must serve 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for parole.

On Oct. 31, 2014, Dupont and an accomplice asked the victim to drive them from Berkeley Township to South Toms River, and while she was driving them, they assaulted the victim and stole cash that was in her possession.

Dupont additionally was sentenced to a concurrent 7-year term for a second-degree robbery charge in a Jan. 20, 2018, in Lakehurst. Dupont made arrangements to meet the victim in Lakehurst to sell him a cellular telephone, but instead threatened the victim and demanded the cash.

Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer praised the work of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit, South Toms River Police Department, Lakehurst Township Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit in bringing Dupont to justice.
