To the Editor:

I’ve only lived in Manchester for 2 years but I am ”home”! I enjoy my community – as I like to say ”I live in a village in the country by the ocean” – the best of all worlds. My little village has residents aged 55 to 100. I love living here where I can enjoy the company and learn from my ”elders” (I’m 62).

But, now, I am appalled at the political situation here.

Our mayor has held office in one form or another for over 20 years. He does not attend council meetings, accused the PTA of slanting questions at their forum in favor of his opponent (I was there – they weren’t) so he was a ‘no-show’ and refuses to debate his opponent so as not to give him ammunition (what is the incumbent mayor hiding?).

Now, he and the party of Continued Good Government have decided to use others to solicit votes from an unsuspecting population. One gentleman stated that the letter, under his own letterhead, was only sent to Independents and supporters of Continued Good Government – except many Democrats and Republicans received the letter while others did not. The councilman, who agreed to having the letter sent under his auspices, confessed confusion. All letters being circulated throughout senior communities, seem to be written by others and appear to target voters who know the ‘author’ and would not question what’s best for Manchester, their villages or themselves but rather simply go along with their neighbor for the suggested vote.

On behalf of all my fellow senior neighbors, I am truly offended.

It’s time for a change – it’s time for a fresh perspective.

I hope every resident of Manchester says to themselves ”how dare you think because I’m older, I won’t pay attention” and votes for Ken Palmer.
