Man Charged In Drive-By Shooting At Lakehurst Home

Police allege the shooting was an attempt to intimidate the victim.

LAKEHURST, NJ — An Ocean Gate man has been arrested in a drive-by shooting at a Lakehurst home on Jan. 5, Lakehurst police announced.

Nysiq S. Sutton, 20, has been charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, certain person not to possess a weapon, and disorderly conduct, police said.

Police were called to a home on the 700 block of Cedar Street about 6:40 p.m. Jan. 5 for a shooting and found a shell casing in the street, police said.

There were no injuries.

The investigation found Sutton was a passenger in the back seat of a vehicle that drove past the victim's home and fired at the home to try to intimidate the victim, police said.

Sutton was arrested at his Ocean Gate home on Friday, police said. He is being held at the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Ocean Gate police and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Field Services Unit assisted, Lakehurst police said.
