Man Hit By Car On Route 530 Dies, Manchester Police Say

The man was hit by a car when he stepped into Route 530 after dark earlier in August, Manchester police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man who was hit by a car on Route 530 earlier in August has died, Manchester police said Tuesday morning.

Richard J. Fescharek, 43, of Whiting, succumbed to his injuries on Aug. 14, Capt. Albert Vega said.

Fescharek was hit shortly before 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 9 on Route 530 in the area of Swift Circle, Vega said. He was thrown more than 50 feet when he was hit by a gray 2013 Toyota Camry driven by Rocco Lanzetti, 63, of Wrightstown, Vega said.

The preliminary investigation found Fescharek stepped into the road in the area of Swift Circle and into the Camry's path, Vega said.

He lying in a grassy area next to the road and was unresponsive, and was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with multiple life-threatening injuries, Vega said.

The crash remains under investigation by Patrolman Anthony DeBlasio of the Manchester Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
