Manchester Board Honors Championship-Winning Girls Bowlers

The Manchester Township High School girls bowling team is going to need a bigger wall.

The Hawks have added two more banners to the championship ones already hanging in the school gym -- a feat they were honored for at the Board of Education meeting on Wednesday. Manchester won its ninth straight NJSIAA South Jersey Group II championship, and followed that up with the team’s third overall Group II title in the last five years this season.

“There is now a whole wall of bowling banners in our gym,” Manchester athletic director Keith Lister said as he introduced the team at the board meeting.

Superintendent David Trethaway congratulated Coach Mike McCrae for his contribution to the team’s success and remarked that although the presentation has become an annual event, the team is different each year and they continue to prove themselves year after year, according to a news release from the school district.

“This sport lends itself to a lot of camaraderie,” McCrae said. “You have two teams, their coaches and parents in about a 12 foot area so everybody gets to know everybody.” Both students and parents form lasting friendships with each other as well as the other teams, he said.

In addition to the team honors, senior Julia Ott was named to the First Team All-Shore by the Asbury Park Press and Second Team All State by nj.com.

Each team member was introduced and received a certificate, Hawk pin and a championship hoodie.

“They already have jackets, so they asked for hoodies this time,” McCrae said.

Varsity team members are: Bayleigh Adams, Abigail Hulse, Kaitlyn Kettman, Julia Ott, Stephanie Tremper, and Mackenzie Weber. JV team members are: Savanna Carr, Dezerae Dunnell, Candy Mannix, Brianna Olsen, Harley Row, Victoria Smith, Ashley Stavalo, Lakeria Wilson, Kimberly Wolf, and Margaret Wood.
