Manchester Home Uninhabitable After Car Crashes Through Front
Resident uninjured; driver, from Whiting, told police he blacked out
A Whiting man suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning when his car crashed through a Manchester home, leaving the house uninhabitable, police said Tuesday afternoon.
George Leo, 80, of Whiting, was westbound on Sunset Road about 10 a.m. when his car crossed into the oncoming lane and left the road, Manchester Lt. Todd Malland said. Leo’s car crossed two front lawns, hitting a mailbox and a flagpole before ultimately crashing into the garage and front portion of the home of Donna Kullman, he said. The car came to a stop when it hit the brick facade of the front door of the house, he said.
Kullman, who was home at the time of the crash, was not physically injured, Malland said.

The impact with the flagpole snapped it at the base and caused it to fly through the air and hit the side of another home on Sunset Road, causing damage to the roofline and gutter of that home.
Leo, who was wearing his seat belt, reported blacking out while driving, Malland said. He was taken to Community Medical Center, Toms River, for precautionary reasons.
