Prosecutor: Man, 65, Downloaded, Viewed Children Engaged In Sex Acts

Modesto Torres of Manchester charged with downloading photos from the internet, prosecutor says

A 65-year-old man has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography after an investigation, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Manchester Police Chief Brian Klimakowski announced.

Modesto Torres of Manchester, was arrested at his Eighth Avenue home early Tuesday, according to Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office.

Members of the Ocean County High Tech Crime Unit and the Manchester Township Police Department executed a search warrant that was the result of what Della Fave said was a proactive online investigation into the distribution of child pornography over the internet.

Torres is accused of downloading and viewing images of children engaged in sex acts, Della Fave said.

He is charged with one count each of possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography, with the charges approved by Assistant Prosecutor Kristin Pressman, Della Fave said.

Torres was being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, in lieu of $5,000 bail, no 10 percent option, as set by Judge James Blaney, he said.
