Manchester Man Airlifted After Route 70 Crash: Police
His injuries were said to not be life-threatening, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man was hospitalized Wednesday after his car crashed and overturned on Route 70, Manchester police said.
Kevin Jennings, 64, of the Whiting section, was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with non-life-threatening injuries, Manchester Capt. Todd Malland said.
Police were called about 7:20 a.m. to mile marker 42.5 on Route 70, in the Whiting section, Malland said.

The initial investigation found Jennings was driving east in a black Chevrolet Cobalt when the he apparently suffered a medical emergency, Malland said. The car then ran off the road and hit a tree, glanced off the tree and rolled onto its passenger side before it becoming pinned against another tree, trapping Jennings, he said.
Jennings had to be extricated from the car, he said.

Route 70 was partially closed for several hours while Jennings was extricated and the crash investigated and cleaned up, he said.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Whiting and Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Departments, EMTs from Quality Medical Transport, and paramedics from MONOC.
Patrolman Ian Bole is investigating.
