Manchester Man Seriously Hurt In Dump Truck-SUV Crash
Both vehicles had to be towed after the crash, police said.
A Manchester man was hospitalized in serious condition after a collision between a dump truck and an SUV on Route 571 Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Robert Jennings, 38, of Manchester, was taken to Community Medical Center, Toms River, after the crash, which happened about 4:40 p.m., Manchester Capt. Todd Malland said.
Jennings was driving a 2001 GMC west on Route 70 and was attempting to turn left onto Route 571 eastbound when the GMC and a 1989 Mack dump truck driven by Kevin Borden, 22, of Jackson, collided, Malland said.

The dump truck was westbound on Route 571 at the time, he said.
Borden suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene, Malland said.

Jennings has to be extricated from the SUV by members of the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, and he was taken to Community by the Manchester Volunteer First Aid Squad, he said.
Also assisting at the scene were members of the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, Malland said. Patrolman Paul Bachovchin of the Traffic Safety Section is investigating, with assistance from the Patrol Bureau.
