Manchester Man Used Family's Gym Access To Steal Credit Cards, Police Say

Toby Aun is accused of riffling through lockers, using cards at Manchester and Toms River stores to buy items and pawn them, police say.

MANCHESTER, NJ -- A Manchester Township man and a Waretown woman have been charged in a string of thefts from gym lockers at the Renaissance after the man allegedly used his family’s privileges to gain access, Manchester police said.

Toby J. Aun, 26, of the Pine Acres Manor development, was arrested Jan. 21 as he left the Lowes in Manchester with property purchased using a stolen credit card, Manchester Lt. Vincent Manco said.

Amanda Dirschauer, 22, of Waretown, was charged Jan. 22 in the incidents, he said.

Manco said Aun and Dirschauer are accused of using Aun’s access to the gym at the Renaissance community -- he was an authorized guest of a family member who lives at the Renaissance, Manco said -- to go into the men’s lockerroom at the clubhouse and go through unlocked lockers.

The pair took credit cards and keys that Aun used to open open vehicles parked at the clubhouse to steal additional property, Manco said. Aun then went to the Lowes and Home Depot stores in Manchester and Toms River and made purchases using the victims’ credit cards, and then sold the items he bought to pawn shops in Toms River, Manco said.

Aun was been charged with theft, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of stolen property and theft by deception by Patrolman Ryan Saul, who was able to make a positive identification through video surveillance footage, Manco said.

Though a warrant was signed for Aun’s arrest on Jan. 18, police could not find him at that time, Manco said. Three days later, however, Manchester detectives were able to take him into custody in the parking lot at Lowes, he said.

Aun faces additional charges of burglary, theft, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and possession of heroin in the wake of his arrest in the initial theft case, Manco said, because during further investigation by Patrolman Michael Terranova, more stolen property was recovered.

Aun is being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, in lieu of $20,000 bail from the Jan. 18 charges, and an additional $10,000 bail from the Jan. 21 charges, he said.

Dirschauer was charged with burglary and theft on Jan. 22 in connection with her involvement with the clubhouse locker burglaries, Manco said. She was processed at Manchester Police headquarters and released pending court.
