Manchester Mayor Invites Applications For League Of Municipalities Scholarship
The program, run by the League of Municipalities, awards three $1,000 scholarships.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township Mayor Kenneth Palmer is inviting high school seniors from the township to apply for a scholarship offered by the New Jersey State League of Municipalities.
The League is offering three $1,000 awards through the Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition. Thes statewide competition centers on “What My Municipal Government Does Best” and seeks to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer members of municipal government, according to a news release.
Students apply in their hometowns, and towns submit a semifinalist to the statewide competition. The League's statewide scholarship committee then chooses 15 finalists and three winners. The winners will each receive a $1,000 scholarship and their essay will be featured in New Jersey Municipalities Magazine.

Applicants must write a 500-word essay on the theme, “What My Municipal Government Does Best.” The essay should be based on the applicant’s perceptions and experiences with your municipality’s local government and should consider the public contribution of the municipal government.
The Manchester Township High School guidance office has applications and instructions on file. All applications and essays must be returned to Mayor Kenneth T. Palmer at Manchester Town Hall, 1 Colonial Drive, Manchester, NJ 08759, by the deadline date, March 10, 2017.
