
Seven students from Manchester Township High School who scored high marks on the annual advanced placement exams were honored by the school board for their academic achievement.
Eryn Barnes, Amy Geary, Glad Quinonez, Sidney Carr, John Morton, Sean Rembach and Maeve Malloy all scored at least a 3 on multiple exams to achieve their distinction.
Barnes, Geary and Quinonez were named AP Scholars, thanks to scoring at least a 3 on three exams. Quinonez, who was in attendance at Thursday’s school board meeting, said he’s heading to Ocean County College to start, with the goal of entering a pre-med program and eventually becoming a heart surgeon.

Carr, Morton and Rembach were all named AP Scholars with Honor, scoring at least a 3 on four exams and getting an overall average score of at least 3.25. Morton is heading to Rowan University to major in chemical engineering, while Rembach will start at Ocean County College and eventually transfer to Rowan, also for chemical engineering.
Malloy, the valedictorian of her class, was named AP Scholar with Distinction, having scored at least a 3 on five or more exams, with an average score of 3.5 or higher. Malloy’s majoring in psychology at Bryn Mawr College.

“These are some of our top, top students,” saidd Superintendent Dave Trethaway. “Most important, their achievements are not all in one subject area, which shows how well-rounded they are.”
