Manchester Police, Mayor Help Raise Hunger Awareness At ShopRite Event
As they bagged purchases for customers, they helped bring attention to a problem that plagues all communities.
Manchester Township police officers and Mayor Kenneth Palmer took time out over the weekend to lend their support to the fight against hunger in the township.
September is “National Hunger Action Month,” a time when organizations and businesses across the country are doing their part to help fight hunger in their communities. ShopRite officials asked the Manchester Township Police Department for assistance with their event, and Chief Lisa Parker happily obliged.
“Hunger is an important issue facing all communities, even Manchester Township. Too many families, including our neighbors, go hungry each day,” Parker said. “I’m glad that we were able to partner with ShopRite to help raise awareness of those in need.”

Palmer and the officers who participated in the ShopRite “Help Bag Hunger” event -- Sgt. Bryan Vidovich, Patrolman John Decker, Patrolman Patrick Morgan, Patrolman Michael Terranova and Patrolman Shawn Cavalcante -- bagged groceries for customers and greeted members of the community to help raise awareness of hunger issues.
ShopRite cashiers also collected donations throughout the day that will help to fill the shelves of local food banks.
