Manchester Police Urge Residents To Lock Cars After Burglaries

Thieves have been entering cars in the Pine Lake Park section, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Residents are being reminded once again to lock their vehicles in the wake of several instances of "car shopping" in the Pine Lake Park section, Manchester Township police said.

“Car shopping” is when burglars walk down a street checking vehicle door handles to find unlocked ones where they can easily take money or other items left in the car, Lt. Vincent Manco said.

Reports came from Fourth Avenue and Hannibal Street between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., Manco said.

To prevent thefts, residents should always keep all vehicle doors and windows locked, he said.

"While many motor vehicle burglaries go unreported to the police for various reasons, we urge all residents to contact the police if they have been the victim of any crime," Manco said.
