Manchester Set To Ring In The Season Friday

Thanksgiving is Thursday and Black Friday is right on its heels, meaning the holiday season is about to begin. With that in mind, Manchester Township officials have announced the town’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The event -- which included musical performances by members of the Manchester Township High School band as well as sing-along carols and a chance for the little ones to speak to Santa Claus.

Refreshments will be served following the lighting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the courthouse entrance to Town Hall.

In addition to the tree lighting, the Manchester Township Recreation Department is holding its Holiday Home Decorating Contest.

Have a festive scene at your home you’re proud of? Enter it into the contest, which is free and open only to Manchester residents. Winners will be chosen in three categories: Spirit of the Holiday, Most Original, and Griswolds, which of course is a tip of the hat to those most crazy home decorators of all.

You must be registered by Friday, Dec. 11, and judging will take place on Monday, Dec. 14.
