Manchester School Board Honors Eagle Scout

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township High School graduate was honored by the district's school board for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

Meletios "Mel" Lendis, who graduated in June, was honored at the Sept. 18, school board meeting, the district said.

Lendis, who now attends Ocean County College, said he spent a year and half and about 2,500 hours planning, fundraising for, and implementing his project.

He said he asked his church, St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church in Toms River, what they needed and they asked for an enclosure to be placed around their unsightly dumpster area. Mel is a member of Troop 350.
