'Extra Special Day': Holiday Express Fills Manchester School With Music

JACKSON, NJ — An annual visit from Holiday Express brought song, dance, and holiday cheer to the school week at Regional Day School, located in Jackson.

The volunteer organization, founded by Tim McLoone, is dedicated to bringing music, gifts, and holiday cheer. Holiday Express has partnered with Regional Day School, part of the Manchester Township School District, for almost two decades to bring this "interactive holiday musical extravaganza" to students and staff.

Regional Day School has approximately 80 students ranging in age from three to 21 years old, according to the school website. Students from one or all special education designations are included in the school.

The school district shared photos of students and staff dancing, singing, and grinning on Thursday.

Students and staff danced and sang along as the volunteer musicians of Holiday Express performed some seasonal favorites. The Grinch stopped by, too, but no mischief was reported on his part. Students enjoyed lunch, and got gift bags from the organization at the end of this "extra special day."

The Manchester Township Police Department P.B.A. stopped by and donated money that will go towards making sure the Regional Day School students have enough warm clothing for the season, the district added.

"Manchester P.B.A.'s donation helps to further support Regional Day School students' care and wellness," officials said.

Holiday Express, founded in 1993, has a stated mission "to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those with the greatest need for the gift of human kindness during the holiday season and throughout the year." The nonprofit is headquartered in Eatontown.
