Manchester Schools 2016-17 Calendar: What You Need To Know

Back-to-school nights, report cards and holiday weeks.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Now that school is back in session in New Jersey, every parent wonders when their children will receive report cards. Or you might be wondering exactly when you'll have them home for winter break.

School districts in New Jersey are required to be in session for 180 days. The Manchester Township School District calendar has 180 days scheduled, meaning there are no buffers for emergency closings. If there are extra days required, they will be added to the end of the school year.

Sept 6: First day of school

Sept. 15: Manchester Township Elementary School Back-to-school night, 6:30 p.m.; Basic Skills meeting, 6 p.m.

Sept. 20: Ridgeway Elementary School Back-to-school night, 6:30 p.m.; Basic Skills meeting, 6 p.m.

Sept. 22: Whiting Elementary School Back-to-school night, 6:30 p.m.; Basic Skills meeting, 6 p.m.

Sept 27: Manchester Township High School Back-to-school night, 6:30 p.m.

Sept 29: Manchester Township Middle School Back-to-school night, 6:30 p.m.

Oct. 10: Schools closed — Columbus Day

Oct. 12-14: Parent teacher conferences high school and middle school; early dismissal at those schools

Nov. 7-11: Schools closed, election and NJEA convention

Nov. 15: First marking period ends.

Nov. 22: High school report cards and portfolios issued

Nov. 24-25: Schools closed — Thanksgiving

Dec. 1: Kindergarten-8th grade report cards and portfolios issued

Dec. 19: Midterm notices

Dec. 26-Jan 2: Winter Break

Jan. 16: Schools closed — Martin Luther King Day

Jan. 30: Second marking period ends

Jan. 31: Schools closed to students/staff in-service day

Feb. 3: High school report cards and portfolios

Feb. 9: Kindergarten-8th grade report cards and portfolios

Feb. 20: Schools closed — Presidents Day

March 3: Midterm notices

March 7-9: High school parent-teacher conferences; early dismissal for students

April 5: Third marking period ends

April 10-17: Spring Break

April 20: High school report cards and portfolios

April 25: Kindergarten-8th grade report cards and portfolios

May 15: 8th grade trip

May 16: Midterm notices

May 29: Schools closed — Memorial Day

June 2: 8th grade dinner dance

June 16: Last day of school/graduation day

There are no emergency closing days built into the calendar. Closings due to inclement weather will be added to the end of the school year.
