Manchester Schools to Hold Lottery for Preschool Inclusion Program


The Manchester Township School District will have a half-day integrated preschool program that will be open to a limited number of non-disabled children who have attained the age of 4 on or before October 1, 2014.

This program is designed to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to be included with non-disabled peers.  Ten non-disabled students will be selected by lottery on May 30, 2014.

The program is anticipated to include 10 non-disabled students and 5-8 disabled children.  It will be located at Ridgeway Elementary School and transportation is included.

The program will run 2 ½ hours daily, from 12:30-3:00PM, starting on the first day of school in September 2014.  Students must be age 4 on or before October 1, 2014 and must be bathroom trained.  The classroom staff will include one certified teacher, two aides, and one speech/language specialist.

Applications for the program may be picked up at the Board of Education Office, 121 Route 539, Whiting, NJ between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. May 12 – May 23 and must be returned by May 29, 2014.  You must bring your child’s state issued birth certificate and proof of residency.  Ten students will be selected in a lottery system on May 30, 2014.
