Manchester Teacher Maura Simister Empowers, Instills Pride In Students

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Maura is an amazing teacher who thrives in her environment! She inspires students to become involved with and experience the engineering field. She constantly attends workshops to make connections with specialists in her field and find new ways to engage her students. She leads the engineering club to victories and achievements in various engineering competitions and instills a sense of empowerment, confidence, and pride in students who participate. Maura also is sure to emphasize women in engineering to demonstrate to her female students the amazing opportunities they can have as well.

Maura has connected with the local Naval base and provides exposure and field trips to the base for the students to participate in real-life applications in the field of engineering. Maura is a wealth of information and influence and she constantly writes grants to get equipment for her students. She has also organized family STEM nights in our community where families can come to try some engineering challenges and speak to the engineering students from Manchester Middle School. The students in Manchester are lucky to have her!
