Manchester Woman In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Car Near Quick Chek

Christine Culp had to be airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, police say.

A Manchester woman was struck by a car as she tried to cross Ridgeway Road near the entrance to the Quick Chek store on Saturday night, Capt. Todd Malland said.

Christine Culp, 54, was hit by a 2014 Fiat 500L driven by Ronald D. Pinkham, 67, of Somerset, at 9:45 p.m. Culp suffered head injuries when she made contact with the lower section of Pinkham’s windshield, he said.

She was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where she is listed in critical condition, Malland said.

Pinkham and his wife were uninjured, he said.

Traffic was detoured around the scene for approximately three hours. The crash is being investigated by Officer Douglas Higgins of the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Unit, Malland said.

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Support Team, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit, members of the Ridgeway and Manchester Volunteer Fire Departments, squad members from Quality Medical Transport and paramedics from MONOC, he said.
