Manchester Woman Hit, Critically Injured In ShopRite Lot: Police
Marie Ryerson, 87, of Whiting, was walking through the lot to get to ShopRite when she was hit by an SUV, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township woman is in critical condition after she was hit by an SUV in the ShopRite parking lot Wednesday morning, Manchester police said.
Marie Ryerson, 87, of the Whiting section, suffered injuries on the right side of her body as well as possible serious internal injuries when she was hit shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday, police said. She was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.
Ryerson was hit by a silver 2020 Chevrolet Trax driven by Peter Stasinski, 82, of Whiting. Police said Stasinski pulled out of a parking space and as he pulled forward and started to turn to the left he hit Ryerson, who was walking toward ShopRite and into the vehicle's path.

Ryerson was hit by the front driver's side of the vehicle and was lying on the ground when police arrived, authorities said.
Stasinski and passenger, Virginia Stasinski, 80, of Whiting, were not injured.

Manchester Patrolman Michael O’Hara is investigating, but the preliminary findings are that driver error appears to be the primary contributing factor, police said.
EMTs from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services also responded, police said.
