Manchester Woman Hurt In Rollover Crash: Police

A police officer had to crawl into the car to help free the woman, who was still belted in the driver's seat, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township police officer had to crawl inside a car Monday to help free its injured driver after the woman's car hit a parked car and overturned, police said.

Anne Corey, 80, of Manchester, was taken to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, Manchester Capt. Todd Malland said.

Corey was driving a blue Toyota Camry in the Leisure Knoll development shortly after 11 a.m. in the area of Harrow Place and Mansfield Avenue when she apparently hit the rear of a white Nissan Rogue that was parked along the road, Malland said.

Malland said the arriving police officers found Corey trapped in the car because she was still seat-belted into the driver’s seat. Patrolman Patrick Cervenak crawled inside of the vehicle was able to unbelt Corey while firefighters from both the Manchester and Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Companies removed her from the vehicle, he said.

He said the investigation showed Corey was driving south on Harrow Place when she lost control of her car and collided with the unoccupied Nissan. The force of the impact caused the Toyota to roll onto its driver’s side, slide against the concrete curb and roll farther, coming to rest on the passenger side.
