Breaking: The woman was walking her bicycle along the sidewalk at the time; she was hospitalized with leg and hip injuries, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township woman was hospitalized Friday after she was struck by a car that jumped a curb in front of a pizza restaurant, police said.

Kristine Sulzmann, 45, of Manchester, suffered leg and hip injuries in the accident and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, by ambulance, Manchester Capt. Todd Malland said.

Sulzmann was injured shortly about 12:45 p.m. on Friday as she was pushing her bicycle along the sidewalk in front of Charlie's Pizza at 1980 Route 37 in the Savannah Acres section of the township, Malland said.

The investigation found Sulzmann was hit when a red 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Lillian McNichol, 83, of Manchester, drove up over the curb and onto the sidewalk as McNichol pulled into a parking space in front of the restaurant, he said.

Sulzmann was briefly pinned against the building by the car and her bicycle, but was freed when McNichol was able to back the car up, Malland said.
