Mayor Details Plans For Memorial Day Parade

Manchester Township is gearing up for its annual Memorial Day Parade, which will kick off at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Grand Army Memorial in Pine Lake Park.

"We hope to see many of Manchester’s residents at this community event honoring those who proudly served our country," Mayor Michael Fressola said.

Marchers will begin their journey at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Commonwealth Boulevard and Southampton Boulevard. Guest speakers will be featured once the parade reaches the Memorial, located at Wellington Avenue and Oakdale Street, the mayor said.

Parade participants are asked to gather at 9:15 a.m. at Commonwealth Boulevard and Southampton Boulevard. Street parking for the free event is available on roads near the Memorial except for Oakdale Street.

The Township invites groups to march in the parade. Please call the Department of Public Works at 732-657-8121, ext. 3310 to register.

Anyone who wants to lay flowers or wreaths at the wreaths or flowers at the Memorial may do so, Fressola said.

The township is also inviting children to adorn their bicycles with patriotic decorations and take part in the parade. Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated bicycles. All children who participate are required to wear a proper bicycle helmet.
