Moms Who Rock: Maria Romano, Whiting

For more than 100 years, we have taken a day to honor mothers -- those women who care for others, whether it’s by virtue of having given birth or because they are simply giving souls who watch over all of those around them.

We gave our readers the chance to tell us about their mothers and what makes them special. Here is one of those nominations:

Maria Romano, Whiting

My mom rocks because she has helped me and my family get through some really hard times. If it wasn’t for her we wouldn’t be where we are today. My mother helped us be blessed with a house from Habitat For Humanity. She saw the flyer and said this is for my daughter. She made sure I did everything I needed to do for us to get the home. When I didn’t believe it could happen to us she felt otherwise. Sure enough now we are going on 3 years in our home. She is most definitely not just my mom but she is my best friend.

My mom deserves the spot light an the world cause she is simply AMAZING!!!
