Hundreds Remain Without Power In Manchester After Fierce Storm
Trees and power lines are down across Ocean County in the wake of fierce thunderstorms that moved across New Jersey.
MANCHESTER, NJ — More than 900 homes and businesses in Manchester remained without power Thursday morning after a fierce storm swept through Ocean County, taking down trees and power lines across the area.
Jersey Central Power & Light was estimating those without service would see electricity restored by 5 p.m. Friday.
The storms on Wednesday had knocked out power to more than 48,000 homes across the county, with dozens of trees and power lines down. At peak, more than 5,700 Manchester homes were affected.

Erin Carroll, who lives in Suncrest Village, said she was driving out of the apartment complex when a tree fell on her car just as the storm got started, shattering the back window and causing other damage.
"My car will most likely be totalled but thank God my 6-year-old son was not with me," she said, adding that she had minor glass injuries.

Reports on Ocean County scanners were of trees and power lines down all over the area, some blocking roads.
