Donut-Eating Contest Pits Manchester Vs. Lakehurst Police

The friendly competition is part of the National Night Out event, which Manchester and Lakehurst are combining to hold.

MANCHESTER AND LAKEHURST, NJ — For the second year, National Night Out is a team effort of the Manchester and Lakehurst police departments.

National Night Out, which started in 1984, is the biggest community event that gives police the opportunity to interact with the communities they serve.

The free event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 1 at Lake Horicon in Lakehurst. There will be food trucks, free drinks, prizes, giveaways, live music, games, and a petting zoo.

Officers will give K-9 and SWAT demonstrations, and a physical fitness demonstration, and there will be displays of first responder equipment and vehicles.

A traffic safety simulator and a DWI simulator also will be present to give people reminders to drive safely.
