Parents Of Special Needs Students Invited To Transition Workshop Wednesday
Breaking: The workshop tonight is hosted at the Regional Day School offers information on how to plan for students' adult lives.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Parents and guardians of special needs children are invited to a workshop on steps they can take to prepare their children for the eventual transition to adulthood.
The workshop, titled Look to the Future: Transition from School to Adult Life, is hosted by SPAN (Statewide Parent Advocacy Network) and the Regional Day School, and is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Regional Day School, 890 Toms River Road, Jackson.

The workshop will discuss what is involved with transition planning, which officials say is crucial to increasing successful outcomes for life after high school.
Activities and discussion to help identify interests and future plans will be included, organizers said, and strategies for developing appropriate goals as part of the IEP process will be offered.

Parents and students will be told about resources in the community they can connect with to build up support and ensure a dignified life for students as contributing and participating members of their community, organizers said.
