Pedestrian, 4 Others Hurt In 2-Vehicle Crash In Manchester: Police
The man was walking nearby when he was hit by one of the vehicles as a result of the crash, police said.
MANCHESTER, NJ — A pedestrian and four other people were injured Thursday in a two-car crash on Route 539 in Manchester, police said.
Adriano Fernando Placencia, 39, of Bremerton, WA; Lois T. Stuller, 80, of Princeton Junction; Katherine E. Reed, 78, of West Windsor; Kiersten L. Hughes, 22, of Whiting, and a 15-year-old who was a passenger in Hughes's car all were taken to area hospitals as a result of the crash that happened shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, Manchester Detective Lt. Vincent Manco said.
Manco said the investigation showed Hughes was driving a black 2014 Mazda CX5 south on Route 539 when she turned left to enter a driveway on Route 539. In the process, Manco said, she turned into the path of a green 2002 Toyota Sienna that was being driven north on Route 539 by Stuller.

The Toyota hit the Mazda on its passenger side, causing the car to rotate clockwise into the driveway, where it hit the front end of a red 2008 Cadillac Escalade that was parked in the driveway, Manco said. The Mazda also hit Fernando Placencia in the process, he said.
Fernando Placencia suffered cuts on his head, an arm injury and possible internal injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center, Toms River, for treatment, Manco said.

Stuller and her passenger, Reed, both were wearing seatbelts at the time and airbags deployed, Manco said. The two were taken to to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, he said.
Hughes and her 15-year-old passenger also were wearing their seatbelts and the car's side curtain airbags deployed, Manco said. They were taken to Community Medical Center for evaluation and complaints of pain, he said.
Quality Medical Transport responded to the scene for treatment and transportation of the injured to local hospitals, Manco said.
The investigation is being conducted by Patrolman Michael O’Hara and Sgt. Antonio Ellis of the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.
