UPDATE: Standoff Ends With Wife Dead, Husband Airlifted To Hospital: Officials

The man was found unresponsive in the garage after he had been barricaded in the home for a few hours, an official said.

UPDATE, 4:30 p.m.: A Plumsted Township woman has died of stab wounds that apparently were inflicted by her husband during a domestic dispute at their home, and the husband was airlifted to a hospital with unspecified injuries after he was found unresponsive in the garage, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Susanne Haskoor, 47, has been identified as the woman and her husband as Arthur Haskoor, 56.

Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said police were called about 10 a.m. by school officials at New Egypt High School, who reported a domestic dispute taking place at 120 Evergreen Road.

They arrived to find Susanne Haskoor in the driveway, where she had died of her wounds, and a note on the front door of the home saying there were guns in the house and that the occupant would kill police officers, he said.

One of the couple’s two sons -- ages 17 and 18 -- confirmed that, telling police that his father owned at least six weapons, Della Fave said.

The residence was immediately secured. Members of the Ocean County Northern Regional SWAT Team, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Plumsted Township Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and the New Jersey State Police were called and a perimeter was established to contain the barricaded occupant, he said.

About 2:30 p.m. a camera-equipped robot made entry to the residence and found the Arthur Haskoor in the garage unresponsive, Della Fave said. He was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center, but his condition was not available.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending, Della Fave said.

UPDATE, 2:15 p.m.: The person barricaded inside a Plumsted Township home has been identified as a man by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Asbury Park Press is reporting that a woman has died of stab wounds at the scene and that her estranged husband is the man inside the home. He reportedly has several weapons, the Press report says.

Al Della Fave, spokesman for the office, said the man remains inside the home. Della Fave said he could not confirm or deny reports that someone has died at the scene, but he did say airspace over the scene has been deemed restricted by the FAA at the request of the prosecutor’s office.

In addition, students and staff were evacuated from nearby New Egypt High School, and the Ocean County Library branch has been evacuated and closed as well, the Press reported.
