Police: Smoky Smell Due To Fire At Heritage Minerals Site

Some Manchester residents may be able to smell the now-contained fire, police said.

A brush fire in the Heritage Minerals site has generated smoke that can be smelled by residents in some parts of Manchester, township police said.

The fire was contained by the N.J. State Forest Fire Service and it is now under investigation, according to a Nixle alert from the police department. But the smell of smoke/burning is possible in the areas of Briar Hill, Pine Lake Park and even as far as Richard Estates, police said.

There is no threat to residents as the area is contained and fire apparatus is on scene, police said.
