Joint Base Warns Of Loud Night Training Sessions
Aircraft testing along with noisy practice at the training ranges is on the schedule, Joint Base officials said.

JOINT BASE McGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, NJ — The next two weeks are likely going to be very loud for residents around the Joint Base, particularly at night, officials announced.
This time, however, it may not just be a result of Howitzers and cratering charges being fired on the training ranges.
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst will be conducting nighttime aircraft acoustic tests through Oct. 3, the Joint Base said in a post on its Facebook page.

The acoustic tests may cause loud noise in the area around Lakehurst, base officials said.
"Testing will be conducted in the evening to achieve the most favorable acoustic conditions when winds are typically lower," base officials said.

The base's September noise calendar shows heavy crew weapons training through the end of September as well. That training can include firing Howitzers, mortars and cratering charges, the calendar notes.
The noise levels from the weapons training can vary depending on which of the training ranges is being used and weather conditions. Low cloud cover can cause the noise to travel farther.
